December 27, 1950 – MacArthur’s Tokyo headquarters releases a revised estimate of communist forces in North Korea — more than 276,000 Chinese and 167,000 North Koreans and guerillas. The spokesman says there are also 650,000 Chinese soldiers in Manchuria and another 256,000 en route to North Korea. That’s a total of more than 1.3 million soldiers against U.N. forces that range between 200,000 and 250,000. Of that number approximately 150,000 are non-Koreans, including seven American divisions.
